Watching preachers you occasionally pick up on small flaws in their public speaking habits that can be easily fixed and so enhance their ability to connect well with people whom they are speaking to.

One mistake is failing to address blocks of seats well. There are a few variations of this:

  • Poor goofy-glance: some preachers massively favour the seats and those to their right. Once you spot it, it is almost distracting. They will preach to those in front of them for an extended period of time, to the right for an extended period of time, and then just glance briefly to the left. If you are feeling guilt, sit to this preacher's left and you won't feel picked on 😛
  • Laser tag glances: some preachers don't fix on any one group for very long. The eyes and head are bouncing all over the place. Far better to fix on group of seats for a paragraph of speech before moving on.
