So I’ve been thinking through how best to do UTAS Societies Day next year and have been amazed that the internet has actually served as a helpful source of ideas. A blog has actually generated helpful discussion!

I’ve narrowed things down a bit more. I’ve decided Societies Day is not the best place to stand out to the general public by giving away something cool or by serving the community. It’s simply too mad and crowded to make a huge impact directly on the festival.

So I’m thinking we focus on giving a really really good showbag to the Christians who actually sign up for our society. But we package our stall in such a good way that the non-Christians look in on us and see that we do what we do well. Maybe even slightly wish they were Christians so they could sign up to our society.

What exactly do we give someone who sign up? We have to find a way to make this financially viable, either through paying for it all through the sign up fee ($15 max) or by getting good deals/donations. But it’s gotta be impressive. Like a combination of the following:

  • Hoodie with logo
  • Groovy branded merchandise (what’s your favourite? Stress ball? Pen? Mug? Little Fan?)
  • Sermons and/or music on flash drive/CDR?
  • Uni Fellowship iphone app
  • An iron man suit – the suitcase one from Iron Man 2
  • Some kind of Christian magazine/evangelistic flier/short book
  • Button badge
  • ???
