A message from our General Manager
For many in Australia, this is a time of uncertainty. For Christians, while there are many uncertainties, those are only ever seen in the light of a sovereign God who makes certain promises found in Jesus. Over the coming months church as we have known it previously will be experienced differently. But for Geneva Push, and our partner churches throughout Australia, while the coming months may reshape how we pursue our mission, it will not stop it. In fact, it will provide us with new ways to help love people and point them to Jesus.
So though the times may be uncertain, we have a sure and certain hope in the Gospel. Our country and the world may be wondering what the future holds, but we know that God is working out His purposes in Christ. Even in Australia, where the comforts surrounding us can inoculate us to the impact of a broken world, people are now feeling more fully the impact of a creation groaning under the weight of sin. But for those who are in Christ, there is comfort of a very different kind, one that transcends our current struggles and points us to the hope of a restored creation. It is these truths our country needs more than ever.
As a church planting network, one of our many strengths is the creative and resourceful ways in which we have brought the Gospel to bear on people’s lives. Church Planting is always done in uncertain and evolving contexts. While the current situation is in many ways extraordinary and the challenges presented are unlike many we have had to face before, these challenges are in no way insurmountable.
Over the coming months, as we face the uncertainty that COVID-19 brings to our lives and churches, we will be drawing on and making available resources and ideas from across the network. We pray these resources will help our churches respond in a distinctly Christian way, to model and maintain communities of love and joy and to be able to keep presenting Jesus to those who don’t know him. What you’ll find below is a list of resources that will help you consider how to transition across to some new rhythms of church, as well as resources we'll build out over time around how to keep momentum and mission within that new reality. If there are areas you'd like covered that aren't listed below, contact us and we'll try and source the expertise.
