Greetings all,

It's the new year and you're a potential church planter or maybe a ministry worker just keen to do the best you can for the Lord in your area in 2015. You know that the key to a better witness is a better understanding of the people you'll be witnessing to. But where do you go from here?

Here are three easy steps to get started…

  1. Getting good data on the area you'll be working in is a lot easier than you think. The best place to start for stats that are detailed on a particular area is the ABS Quickstats. Click here to search regional areas and specific postcodes.
  2. The National Church Life Survey is also a great place to check out. NCLS have a churches database but be warned, the scope is limited. It only maps a five kilometre radius around your chosen location. But it's still worth searching so, click here for your 5km search.
  3. The above two links are all well and good for what's happening now – but what about the future? This is where your state government comes in. For example, this website has all the gear for a wider discussion about Sydney's growth and you can see plans for specific areas. Similar resources can be found on all state government web sites.

That's a good start, and if you're struggling to find out more feel free to drop me a line at Geneva Push. After all, we're a network of church planters and helping each other push ahead is what we're all about.

God bless in the new year!
